In order to introduce you the rich and beautiful nature of Wakayama Prefecture, we exhibit various water creatures at the aquarium as well as a collection of specimens of animals, plants, insects, shells, fossils and minerals. We hope you will enjoy learning about our abundant nature. Aiming to be a museum friendly to local people, we also conduct research and educational activities.

- From JR Kainan Station, take the bus bound for Wakayama City and get off at Kotonoura Bus (10 minutes)
- From JR Wakayama Station or Nankai Wakayama-shi Station, take the bus bound for Kainan City and get off at Kotonoura Bus Stop. (30 minutes)
- From Wakayama City, follow National Route 42 and turn right after Kemi Tunnel.
- From Kainan IC, follow National Route 42 towards Wakavama Citv (10 minutes)

Educational Activities
Nature Observation Tour etc
We hold nature observation tours as "Kinokuni Outdoor Museum" in various places such as shores and fields in Wakayama Prefecture including the event to discover fossils of dinosaurs. During summer vacation, nature observation camps are also held.
In addition, we offer experience-based events at the museum such as "Feed the fish" and "Night Aquarium".
Special Exhibitions
Special Exhibitions are held in summer.

We offer lectures by experts on various interesting themes of nature.

Floor Guide
You can enjoy learning about nature and creatures in Wakayama at Wakayama Prefectural Museum of Natural History.
Exhibition Room 1 is the aquarium area where you can see various creatures living in Wakayama.
Exhibition Room 2 consists of exhibition of specimens and models introducing animals, plants, insects, shells, fossils and minerals.
